Islamabad, September 10, 2024, The Europe Today: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has reiterated that Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) are not being blocked in the country, dismissing recent media reports suggesting otherwise.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, the PTA addressed the circulating claims, stating, “Recent news circulating in media about PTA to block VPNs, it is clarified that VPNs are not being blocked in Pakistan.”
The telecommunication regulator emphasized that no such measures are being enforced and urged the public to rely on verified information. The PTA further assured that it continues to monitor developments in the telecommunications sector to maintain a secure and transparent environment for internet users.
This statement comes in response to speculation about potential restrictions on VPN usage, which had caused concern among businesses and individuals who rely on such services for data privacy and secure communications.
The PTA’s clarification aims to provide clarity and ensure that misinformation does not disrupt public trust in the country’s telecommunication policies.
