Thailand and China Unveil Logo for Golden Jubilee Celebrating 50 Years of Diplomatic Relations

Bangkok, November 20, 2024 — The Europe Today: Thailand and China have launched a commemorative logo for the upcoming golden jubilee of diplomatic relations between the two nations, marking 50 years since the establishment of their formal ties. Foreign Affairs Minister Maris Sangiampongsa announced that the logo, jointly designed by the Foreign Affairs Ministries of both countries, will symbolize the celebration of five decades of cooperation, which began on July 1, 1975, with the signing of the Joint Communique on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations in Beijing.

The logo, unveiled in anticipation of the 50th anniversary next year, features a dragon representing China and a Naga, a mythical serpent symbolizing Thailand, facing each other and gazing at a golden orb. The colors red and blue, drawn from the Chinese and Thai flags, respectively, accentuate the image, signifying a shared vision of “A Thailand-China Community with a Shared Future for Enhanced Stability, Prosperity, and Sustainability.”

Minister Maris highlighted the enduring partnership between Thailand and China, reflecting on 50 years of resilience and cooperation across political, economic, and cultural dimensions. He noted that this milestone presents an opportunity to strengthen relations further and address future challenges together, benefiting citizens of both nations. He added that a series of cultural and commemorative events are planned throughout the year to deepen the bond between the people of Thailand and China.

Kicking off the celebrations, a Buddha’s tooth relic from Lingguang Temple in Beijing will be brought to Thailand, allowing people to pay their respects at Sanam Luang from December 4 to February 14, 2025.

Chinese Ambassador Han Zhiqiang expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming golden jubilee, emphasizing that it marks a new starting point for Thailand-China relations. President Xi Jinping has reaffirmed the special, comprehensive ties between the two nations, declaring 2025 a “golden year” for strengthening mutual cooperation at every level.
