Turkmen Foreign Minister Expresses Condolences on the Passing of Jimmy Carter

Ashgabat, January 10, 2025 – The Europe Today: Rashid Meredov, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, visited the U.S. Embassy in Ashgabat on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to express condolences following the passing of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, as reported by media.

During his visit, Minister Meredov signed the condolence book, which had been made available to those wishing to pay their respects to the late American leader. His gesture was part of the broader international expressions of sympathy following Carter’s death.

The U.S. Embassy in Ashgabat thanked all individuals who visited over the past week to honor the memory of the 39th President of the United States, who passed away on December 29, 2024, at the age of 100.

Carter’s passing prompted national mourning in the U.S., and state funerals were scheduled for January 9, 2025, in Washington. As part of the official mourning period, U.S. flags have been flown at half-mast on government buildings both in the U.S. and abroad, including at U.S. diplomatic missions.

Carter’s legacy of public service, humanitarian work, and his role in shaping global peace efforts remains influential across the world.
