UAE President Holds Talks with US President Trump to Strengthen Strategic Partnership

Abu Dhabi, May 16, 2025 – The Europe Today: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan today held high-level talks with United States President Donald Trump at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, during the latter’s state visit to the United Arab Emirates.

The two leaders discussed the longstanding strategic partnership between the UAE and the US and explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation across various sectors in support of mutual interests. Their talks also addressed regional and international developments of shared concern, with a particular focus on promoting peace and stability.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed welcomed President Trump and underscored the significance of the visit in reinforcing the multifaceted ties between the two nations. He praised the US President’s contributions to advancing UAE-US relations since assuming office, noting that the partnership is grounded in a shared vision for progress and prosperity.

The discussions highlighted opportunities to deepen collaboration in key sectors, including investment, energy, advanced technology, artificial intelligence, and industry. Both leaders affirmed their commitment to building a more prosperous and innovation-driven future through joint initiatives.

The leaders also exchanged views on regional challenges, emphasising the importance of preventing escalation and working collaboratively to preserve security and stability in the Middle East and beyond.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed reflected on over five decades of UAE-US cooperation, describing it as a deep-rooted relationship based on mutual trust, respect, and common interests. He reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to international cooperation and multilateralism in support of global peace and sustainable development.

The meeting concluded with both leaders affirming their shared intent to further elevate the strategic partnership between the UAE and the United States.

Sheikh Mohamed emphasised the UAE’s role as a reliable and steadfast partner to the US in confronting global challenges. He noted that the relationship has been significantly enhanced through President Trump’s support, particularly in future-oriented sectors such as the new economy, AI, and technology.

President Trump commended the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed and lauded the continued strengthening of UAE-US relations. He welcomed the launch of a new 1-gigawatt AI cluster to be housed at an Abu Dhabi-based AI campus, celebrating it as a major milestone in bilateral cooperation.

To mark the occasion, His Highness hosted a dinner banquet in honour of President Trump and his accompanying delegation. The US President also signed the guestbook at Qasr Al Watan, expressing appreciation for the warm welcome and reiterating his commitment to further advancing the strategic relationship between the two countries.

The meeting was attended by several senior UAE officials, including:

  • H.H. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser;
  • H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior;
  • H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan;
  • H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs;
  • H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs;
  • Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President.

The delegation accompanying President Trump also included senior US officials and advisers.
