Azerbaijan Showcases “ASAN Khidmet” Model at United Nations Event in New York

Baku, July 26, 2025 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijan presented its acclaimed “ASAN Khidmet” model at a high-level United Nations event in New York, focused on “Promoting Competencies and New Mindsets for the Future of Governance in the Global South.”

The Head of the International Relations Department of Azerbaijan’s State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations delivered the presentation during the event, which was jointly organized by the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), through its Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government, in collaboration with the African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM).

The international gathering aimed to highlight innovative governance models and public service solutions that advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the Global South. Azerbaijan’s “ASAN Khidmet” model—renowned for enhancing efficiency, transparency, and citizen satisfaction in public service delivery—was showcased as a successful case study in digital governance and institutional reform.

The Azerbaijani representative provided an overview of the model’s achievements and elaborated on the broader activities of the State Agency. The event also revisited the outcomes of the African Regional Forum on Public Service Innovation, co-organized by “ASAN service” and held earlier this year in Ethiopia, underlining the agency’s expanding international footprint.

During the visit to New York, discussions were held with UN officials on the implementation of the Contribution Agreement signed in November 2023, further solidifying Azerbaijan’s cooperation with international institutions in the area of public service modernization.

In addition, Azerbaijani delegates engaged with representatives from the United Arab Emirates to explore opportunities for expanding bilateral collaboration in the field of public service innovation.

The participation underscores Azerbaijan’s growing role in global public administration reform efforts and its commitment to sharing best practices that support inclusive, citizen-centric governance worldwide.
