Baku, July 26, 2025 – The Europe Today: Finance Minister of Azerbaijan, Sahil Babayev, held a meeting with a delegation led by Anna Bordon, head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission in the country.
The meeting centered around the ongoing macroeconomic and macrofiscal developments in Azerbaijan, the outlook for year-end and the medium-term period, as well as recent initiatives and strategic goals. The two sides also exchanged views in preparation for the upcoming IMF Article IV Consultation mission scheduled for early next year.
Minister Babayev provided detailed insights into the key components of Azerbaijan’s medium-term macrofiscal framework, focusing on revenue and expenditure policy directions, reforms undertaken in public financial management, and the anticipated results of these efforts.
Discussions also explored the broader agenda of fiscal policy reforms and the potential for IMF support in their implementation. Both parties reaffirmed the value of the long-standing cooperation between Azerbaijan and the IMF.
Minister Babayev underlined the Azerbaijani government’s commitment to deepening collaboration with the IMF. He acknowledged the positive impact of the IMF’s technical assistance and advisory services, noting their significant contribution to enhancing macroeconomic stability and strengthening fiscal governance in the country.
