Jakarta, September 18, 2025 — The Europe Today: The Jakarta provincial government announced plans to open a dedicated market in Paris this October to promote products “Made in Jakarta,” marking a new step in expanding the capital’s international economic reach.
Deputy Governor Rano Karno made the announcement at the opening of the 2025 Jakarta International Investment, Trade, Tourism, and Small and Medium Enterprise Expo (JITEX) at the Jakarta International Convention Center. The move, he explained, follows the discontinuation of the Tong Tong Fair in the Netherlands, which had long served as a gateway for Indonesian products in Europe.
“The European market initiative is part of Jakarta’s role as both a national economic center and a global city, as mandated by Law Number 2 of 2024,” Karno said.
Running until September 21 under the theme “Jakarta Connecting Future,” JITEX 2025 aims to strengthen local and international business ties, with a transaction target of Rp14.9 trillion ($960 million), surpassing last year’s Rp12.9 trillion ($830 million). Exhibits include culinary products, fashion, electric vehicles, furniture, and other goods from Jakarta’s leading SMEs.
