Turkmenistan Participates in UNESCO MONDIACULT-2025 to Promote Global Cultural Dialogue and Sustainable Development

Barcelona, September 30, 2025 – The Europe Today: A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Myakhri Byashimova, is participating in the UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policy and Sustainable Development (MONDIACULT-2025), being held from September 29 to October 1, 2025, in Barcelona, Kingdom of Spain.

The conference aims to outline strategic directions for cultural policy development in the coming decades and to integrate culture into the global post-2030 agenda as a key factor in sustainable development. Held once every four years, MONDIACULT serves as the leading international platform for dialogue and cooperation in the field of cultural policy.

The event is attended by representatives from over 160 countries, including UNESCO member states, associate members, non-member states, UN agencies, intergovernmental organizations, and international non-governmental organizations. Discussions focus on contemporary issues in international cultural cooperation, including cultural rights, digital transformation, the interaction between culture and education, development of creative industries, culture’s role in addressing climate change, preservation of cultural heritage in times of crisis, and the prospects of artificial intelligence in cultural development. The conference also includes ministerial dialogues and a range of parallel events.

At a thematic session on “Culture and Peace” and “Culture and Education,” Deputy Minister Myakhri Byashimova highlighted the importance of Turkmenistan’s consistent policy under the leadership of the President, aimed at preserving and promoting the country’s rich historical and cultural heritage, strengthening cultural dialogue, and advancing cultural diplomacy.

Turkmenistan’s active engagement in UNESCO initiatives underscores its firm commitment to the organization’s principles, contributing to the strengthening of partnerships and the development of international humanitarian cooperation. The country’s participation in MONDIACULT-2025 has significantly contributed to shaping the global cultural agenda and fostering international collaboration in the fields of culture and sustainable development.
