World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day, New Year Reception Held in Washington

Washington, December 19, 2025 – The Europe Today:  A reception marking World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day and the New Year was held in Washington, bringing together representatives of the diplomatic corps and members of the Turkic and Azerbaijani communities.

The event was attended by diplomats from Turkic-speaking countries accredited to the United States, representatives of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Washington, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Kubanychbek Omuraliev, as well as members of the Azerbaijani and other Turkic communities.

The programme began with the performance of the national anthem of Azerbaijan. Addressing the gathering, Azerbaijani Ambassador to the United States Khazar Ibrahim noted that this year’s reception was held with the special participation of representatives of the Turkic world, underscoring the importance of unity and solidarity among Turkic peoples.

In his remarks, OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev expressed his pride in taking part in the event dedicated to World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day. He highlighted that UNESCO had, for the first time, designated December 15 as World Turkic Language Family Day, stressing its significance for the preservation and promotion of Turkic culture and heritage.

The reception concluded with guests enjoying traditional Azerbaijani cuisine, reflecting the country’s rich cultural traditions.
