PM Shehbaz Sharif Reaffirms Firm Response to Cross-Border Threats After GHQ Briefing

Rawalpindi, February 27, 2026 – The Europe Today: The military leadership on Friday briefed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the evolving situation between Pakistan and Afghanistan during a high-level meeting held at the General Headquarters (GHQ).

During the briefing, the Prime Minister emphasized that zero tolerance must be adopted toward the nexus and malicious activities of Fitna al-Khawarij and the Afghan Taliban regime. He stated that actions targeting Pakistan’s security and stability are unacceptable.

“The actions of the Afghan Taliban regime and Fitna al-Khawarij against Pakistan are unacceptable,” the Prime Minister said, reaffirming the government’s firm stance on national security.

He underscored that the Pakistani Armed Forces, under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, remain fully prepared to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“Pakistan knows how to defend itself against any aggression,” he remarked.

The Prime Minister also commended the professional capabilities of the armed forces for responding effectively and repelling attacks in the border areas. He praised their vigilance and operational readiness in confronting security challenges.

Reaffirming national unity, he said the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces in the defense of the homeland.
