Astara, March 16, 2026 – The Europe Today: The evacuation of foreign nationals from Iran through the Astara state border checkpoint into Azerbaijan continues as part of ongoing efforts to facilitate the safe movement of individuals amid regional tensions.
According to official sources, 13 Russian citizens, one Kazakh national, and four Chinese citizens were evacuated into Azerbaijani territory during the latest operation.
The evacuation process was carried out after the completion of document verification, registration, and other standard procedures, with all necessary measures implemented at the checkpoint to ensure a secure and orderly crossing.
Following their registration, the evacuated individuals were safely transported onward to their final destinations.
Authorities confirmed that the evacuation process at the Astara state border checkpoint remains ongoing without interruption. All crossings are being conducted in accordance with established procedures and under the supervision of the relevant authorities to ensure the safety and efficiency of the operation.
