Turkmenistan, Netherlands Discuss Expanding Bilateral Cooperation

Ashgabat, March 19, 2026 – The Europe Today: On March 18, 2026, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Myahri Byashimova and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Turkmenistan (with residence in Astana), Nicolaas Schermers.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and explored prospects for further strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Netherlands.

The participants noted the considerable potential for expanding mutually beneficial ties and expressed interest in enhancing engagement between relevant government institutions, business communities, as well as scientific and educational organizations of both countries.

The importance of strengthening the legal and contractual framework governing bilateral relations was also emphasized, with both sides underscoring the need for continued joint efforts in this area.

In addition, the parties highlighted the significance of cooperation within international organizations and regional initiatives, recognizing these platforms as key avenues for advancing shared interests.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining constructive dialogue and expanding cooperation across all areas of mutual interest.
