Zangilan, May 11, 2026 – The Europe Today: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on May 10 attended the inauguration ceremony of the first residential complex in the city of Zangilan, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing reconstruction and revitalization of the liberated territories.
The newly inaugurated residential complex comprises 104 apartments and represents one of the key infrastructure projects aimed at resettlement and urban development in the region. During the visit, Special Representative of the President for the districts of Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan provided a detailed briefing to the head of state on the completed works and future development plans in the area.
It is noteworthy that President Ilham Aliyev, together with First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, laid the foundation stone of the complex in 2022. The head of state also inspected the construction progress during his visits in 2024 and 2025, underscoring the project’s strategic importance in the broader reconstruction agenda.
The residential complex covers an area of more than two hectares and consists of 12 buildings. These include four three-story buildings with 60 apartments and eight two-story townhouse-style buildings comprising 44 apartments. Of the total 104 units, 84 are designated for residents, while 20 are allocated for service purposes. The apartments vary in size from two to five rooms.
The development is equipped with modern urban infrastructure, including children’s playgrounds, sports grounds, bicycle lanes, as well as both underground and surface parking facilities. According to the Zangilan Master Plan, the complex is located in the central part of the city within a medium-density, multi-functional zone, in close proximity to essential public amenities such as a school, kindergarten, and park.
Officials stated that the project reflects Azerbaijan’s commitment to rebuilding liberated territories and ensuring modern living standards for returning residents, as part of the country’s long-term development strategy.
