Islamabad, May 17, 2026 – The Europe Today: Pakistan’s military media wing Inter-Services Public Relations has strongly reacted to recent remarks made by the Indian Army Chief in a media interview, describing the statements as provocative and irresponsible.
According to the ISPR, the Indian Army Chief suggested that Pakistan must decide whether it wishes to be part of “geography and history,” a statement Pakistan rejected as baseless, asserting that the country is already an important member of the international community.
The ISPR emphasized that Pakistan is a recognized nuclear power and an undeniable part of South Asia’s geography and historical fabric.
It further stated that such remarks reflect a mindset in Indian leadership that has not accepted the reality of Pakistan’s existence, adding that decades have passed without lessons being learned in the region’s political history.
The military’s media wing warned that what it described as an “arrogant and war-mongering mindset” has repeatedly pushed South Asia toward conflict and instability.
ISPR also stated that threats against a sovereign nuclear-armed neighbor are neither strategic signals nor diplomatic pressure, but instead reflect “extremism and strategic instability.”
It added that responsible nuclear states exercise restraint and strategic maturity, rather than using language of superiority or coercion.
The statement further accused India of involvement in cross-border activities, including destabilization efforts and disinformation campaigns, claims that have been consistently denied by New Delhi in the past.
ISPR said that India’s alleged aggressive posture stems from frustration over its inability to harm Pakistan strategically, adding that regional tensions were exposed during recent conflicts, which Pakistan refers to as “Battle of Truth.”
The statement urged Indian leadership to avoid dragging South Asia toward another crisis, warning that any escalation would have consequences beyond the region.
It concluded by stating that India must recognize Pakistan’s significance and adopt a path of peaceful coexistence, stressing that any attempt to target Pakistan would have outcomes that extend beyond geographical boundaries.
