Baku, May 20, 2026 – The Europe Today: As part of the World Urban Forum 13, the Government of Azerbaijan and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme have established a new global prize in the field of sustainable urban development titled the “Baku Urban Award.”
The initiative is aimed at promoting innovative approaches and strengthening international cooperation to advance sustainable, inclusive, and resilient urban development around the world.
The launch ceremony was attended by Anar Guliyev and Anacláudia Rossbach.
The establishment of the award reflects Azerbaijan’s increasing engagement in global urban development initiatives and highlights its partnership with UN-Habitat in supporting sustainable city planning and urban transformation efforts.
