Prince Daniel Delivers Emotional Speech During Visit to Hometown Ockelbo

Ockelbo

Ockelbo, May 25, 2026 – The Europe Today: Prince Daniel delivered an emotional and reflective speech during a visit to his hometown of Ockelbo in Sweden, marking a special royal engagement attended by members of the Swedish royal family.

On Sunday, the House of Bernadotte shared excerpts from Prince Daniel’s keynote address through its official Instagram account following the event held outside the Wij Manor.

“There are some places you never really leave. Places that remain in the body, in the soul, in the memory and in the steps — even when you have been elsewhere for a longer time. For me, Ockelbo is one such place,” the statement quoted Prince Daniel as saying.

“This is where you come when you come home,” the message added.

Prince Daniel was accompanied during the event by his wife, Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden, and their eldest son, Prince Oscar.

According to a royal press release, the visit also marked the reopening of Wij Manor following an extensive restoration project.

The Swedish Palace stated that Wij Manor had been acquired several years ago by FAM, an organization owned by the three largest Wallenberg foundations, with the aim of developing the estate into a meeting place in Ockelbo.

Prince Daniel, Duke of Västergötland, is a member of the Swedish royal family and the husband of Crown Princess Victoria, heir apparent to the Swedish throne.
