Ashgabat, June 6, 2026 – The Europe Today: The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan hosted the Turkmen-American Business Forum in a roundtable format, bringing together senior officials from Turkmen ministries and agencies alongside a delegation of U.S. business leaders headed by Eric Stewart, Executive Director of the Turkmen-American Business Council.
Participants highlighted Turkmenistan’s commitment to adopting advanced technologies and international best practices, reaffirming the country’s openness to productive cooperation with American companies. Officials noted that Turkmenistan has established a favorable investment climate and a supportive legal framework aimed at facilitating business activity and attracting foreign investment.
Representatives of the U.S. business community expressed growing interest in expanding cooperation with Turkmenistan and confirmed their readiness to participate in the implementation of the country’s large-scale development programs. Speakers noted that recent high-level exchanges, including President Serdar Berdimuhamedow’s visit to the United States last year and the visit of National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow to the United States this year, have opened a new chapter in bilateral economic relations.
Discussions focused on the activities of the Turkmen-American Business Council and its role in strengthening long-term economic cooperation. Participants emphasized that regular business forums, exhibitions and networking events organized by the council have contributed to closer engagement between public and private sector stakeholders in both countries.
Priority areas identified for future cooperation included trade and investment, industrial development, agriculture, and the supply of equipment for the agro-industrial and water management sectors. Significant opportunities were also highlighted in energy, transport and communications, construction, innovative technologies, cybersecurity, healthcare and environmental protection.
Forum participants noted the potential to elevate Turkmen-American cooperation in investment, technology transfer and trade to a new level, outlining practical steps for joint initiatives across key sectors.
Business leaders from both countries also underlined the importance of expanding institutional cooperation. In this regard, the newly established Turkmen-American Business Cooperation Association (TABCA), launched in May this year, was presented as an additional platform to support trade and economic engagement and promote partnerships in areas of mutual interest.
The forum also featured bilateral meetings between representatives of relevant Turkmen ministries and agencies and members of the American business delegation, providing an opportunity to discuss specific projects and investment opportunities.
At the conclusion of the event, participants expressed confidence in the continued expansion of mutually beneficial Turkmen-American cooperation, citing growing economic engagement and strengthened dialogue as key drivers of future partnership.
