Ashgabat, June 12, 2026 – The Europe Today: Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to Turkmenistan, Maria Agren, on June 10 on the instructions of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
On behalf of the President, Gulmanova congratulated Ambassador Agren on her appointment and wished her success in further strengthening the friendly relations and cooperation between Turkmenistan and Finland.
Expressing appreciation for the warm reception accorded to her, Ambassador Agren conveyed greetings and best wishes to President Berdimuhamedov from Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
During the meeting, the ambassador was briefed on the key priorities of Turkmenistan’s domestic and foreign policies. Particular emphasis was placed on the country’s commitment to its status as an independent and permanently neutral state and its efforts to expand mutually beneficial cooperation with international partners.
The Finnish diplomat was also informed about the structure and activities of the Mejlis, including its role in developing and improving the national legislative framework.
The two sides exchanged views on a broad range of issues related to Turkmen-Finnish relations, with special attention given to cooperation in multilateral formats, particularly within the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Ambassador Agren reaffirmed her commitment to working actively to further strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation between Finland and Turkmenistan on the basis of mutual trust, respect and shared interests.
