Baku, June 16, 2026 – The Europe Today: A series of events were held in the Azerbaijan Army on the occasion of June 15 – National Salvation Day, in accordance with the action plan approved by Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
During the ceremonies, the memory of National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, as well as martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland, was honoured with a minute of silence. The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was also performed.
As part of the programme, military personnel visited the Heydar Aliyev Centers, museums and monuments across the country, and watched documentary films highlighting the life and legacy of the National Leader. Educational sessions dedicated to National Salvation Day—described as a significant milestone in Azerbaijan’s history—were also conducted for servicemen. In addition, various cultural and public events were organised for military personnel.
Speakers at the events emphasized that the return of National Leader Heydar Aliyev to political power marked the beginning of a new stage in Azerbaijan’s state development. They noted that his nation-building ideology and political course continue to be successfully pursued today by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ilham Aliyev.
The events also highlighted the historical significance of the victory achieved in the Patriotic War under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, as well as the full restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity following anti-terror operations in the Garabagh economic region.
Military personnel who distinguished themselves in service were later awarded honorary certificates.
The programme concluded with artistic performances, including concert events dedicated to National Salvation Day and themed around patriotism and national unity.
