Ashgabat, June 18, 2026 – The Europe Today: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has officially launched the country’s grain harvest during a working visit to the Gawers farmers’ association in Ak Bugday district of Ahal province, according to the Watan Habarlary news program.
During the visit, the Head of State was warmly received by agricultural sector officials and local farmers. At the request of a land tenant, President Berdimuhamedov cut a bundle of ripe wheat, formally signaling the beginning of the nationwide harvest campaign.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Tangryguly Atahallyev briefed the President on ongoing measures to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted progress of the harvest across the country. The President emphasized the importance of strict adherence to agronomic standards and efficient organization of harvesting operations to minimize crop losses.
As part of the visit, President Berdimuhamedov also attended an exhibition showcasing agricultural produce, including vegetables, bakery products, and newly supplied farming machinery.
The Head of State held a brief conversation with local tenant farmer Dowletmuhammet Muhammetsahedov, who informed him that his family has been engaged in wheat and cotton cultivation since 2012. This year, they planted wheat and cotton on 14 hectares each out of a total of 28 hectares of leased land, with an expected wheat yield of approximately 40 centners per hectare.
At the conclusion of the visit, President Berdimuhamedov presented commemorative gifts to the farmer, recognizing his contribution to agriculture and the significance of the harvest season for the country’s food security and economic stability.
