Turkmenistan, Pakistan Explore Enhanced Cooperation in Education, Science and Academic Exchange

Islamabad, June 19, 2026 – The Europe Today: Prospects for strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan in education, science, and academic exchange were discussed during a meeting held on June 18, 2026, in Islamabad.

The meeting took place between Ambassador of Turkmenistan H.E. A. Movlamov and Chairman of Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC) Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, who reviewed avenues for expanding bilateral collaboration in the higher education sector.

Both sides underscored the strong potential for deepening Turkmen-Pakistani cooperation across a wide range of fields, highlighting the growing importance of partnerships in higher education, scientific research, human resource development, and academic mobility within the framework of bilateral relations.

Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening institutional linkages between universities and higher education institutions of the two countries. The two sides also discussed promoting the exchange of students and scholars, as well as encouraging joint academic programs and collaborative research initiatives.

The participants noted that such initiatives would contribute to enhancing mutual understanding, knowledge sharing, and capacity building between the two friendly nations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining regular dialogue and advancing mutually beneficial projects aimed at further strengthening educational, scientific, and cultural ties between Turkmenistan and Pakistan.
