Turkmenistan, Malaysia Mark 30 Years of Energy Cooperation with Exhibition in Ashgabat

Ashgabat, June 21, 2026 – The Europe Today: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim visited an exhibition marking the 30th anniversary of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Malaysia in the oil and gas sector, according to Turkmen state media.

The visit followed the plenary session of the international scientific and practical conference titled “Turkmenistan–Malaysia: 30 Years of Mutually Beneficial Cooperation in the Oil and Gas Sector,” held in Ashgabat. During the tour, the two leaders reviewed displays highlighting the achievements of bilateral cooperation, including the introduction of modern technologies and the implementation of long-term projects in hydrocarbon processing.

A special pavilion commemorating three decades of partnership between Turkmenistan and PETRONAS showcased key milestones in joint activities and collaboration in the energy sector.

The exhibition also featured participation from leading international energy companies, including PETRONAS, SLB, Halliburton, Dragon Oil, Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC), and Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering (MMHE). In addition, Turkmenistan’s state concerns, research institutes, and specialized educational institutions contributed exhibits.

Pavilions representing Turkmengaz, Turkmennebit, the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries, the Seydi Oil Refinery, and the State Corporation Turkmengeology were also displayed, alongside stands from government ministries, agencies, higher education institutions, and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.

The exhibition highlighted the long-standing and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector over the past three decades.
