Ashgabat, June 30, 2026 – The Europe Today: President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Eiji Hosoi, President and Chief Executive Officer of Toyo Engineering Corporation, to discuss the expansion of bilateral cooperation in the energy and industrial sectors, according to Turkmen state media.

During the meeting, Hosoi expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to meet the Turkmen leader and praised Turkmenistan’s economic achievements, describing the country as one of Toyo Engineering’s key strategic partners. He also congratulated President Berdimuhamedov on the third anniversary of the founding of Arkadag city and extended birthday greetings to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty.

President Berdimuhamedov thanked the Japanese executive for his remarks and expressed confidence that the visit would provide fresh momentum for expanding cooperation between Turkmenistan and Toyo Engineering.

The President highlighted the long-standing contribution of leading Japanese companies to the development of Turkmenistan’s gas and chemical industries, noting in particular Toyo Engineering’s role in the construction of the Kiyanly gas chemical complex.

Built under a 2013 agreement involving the state concern Turkmengaz, LG International Corp., Hyundai Engineering Co., Ltd. and Toyo Engineering Corporation, the Kiyanly polymer plant was commissioned in October 2018 at a cost exceeding US$3.4 billion.

The facility is designed to process 5 billion cubic metres of natural gas annually, producing 386,000 metric tonnes of high-density polyethylene and 81,000 metric tonnes of polypropylene each year, making it one of Turkmenistan’s flagship petrochemical projects.

President Berdimuhamedov said there remains significant potential to further expand bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to consider Toyo Engineering’s proposals for future projects in the oil, gas and chemical industries.

For his part, Hosoi thanked the Turkmen government for its continued confidence in the company and reaffirmed Toyo Engineering’s commitment to fulfilling all contractual obligations to the highest standards while supporting the country’s industrial development.
