Belgrade, July 28, 2026 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijan and Serbia have held another round of political consultations between their foreign ministries, focusing on strengthening bilateral strategic cooperation and expanding collaboration across political, economic, energy, and humanitarian spheres.
The consultations took place on July 28 in Belgrade, with the Azerbaijani delegation led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Fariz Rzayev and the Serbian delegation headed by Damjan Jovic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia.
During the discussions, the sides reviewed the current state of Azerbaijan-Serbia relations and exchanged views on prospects for further developing bilateral cooperation. Particular attention was given to enhancing political dialogue, expanding economic and energy ties, strengthening humanitarian cooperation, and broadening the legal framework governing bilateral relations.
The officials also discussed cooperation within international organizations and explored opportunities to further coordinate positions and deepen interaction in various international forums.
Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev briefed the Serbian side on Azerbaijan’s efforts to promote lasting peace and regional cooperation, as well as the humanitarian challenges caused by the ongoing landmine threat in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories.
He also highlighted Azerbaijan’s large-scale reconstruction and restoration initiatives being carried out in the affected areas.
As part of his visit, Deputy Minister Rzayev held meetings with Tatjana Jović, Advisor to the President of Serbia, and Marina Ragus, Deputy Speaker of the Serbian National Assembly and Chairwoman of the Foreign Affairs Committee.
The Azerbaijani official also participated in a roundtable discussion with experts and researchers at the Institute of International Politics and Economics in Belgrade, where regional and international developments, as well as prospects for further cooperation, were discussed.
The latest round of consultations reaffirmed the commitment of Azerbaijan and Serbia to further strengthening their strategic partnership and advancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
