Islamabad, August 20, 2026 — The Europe Today: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday described the launch of the digital Proof of Life Certificate system for pensioners as a major initiative aimed at facilitating millions of pensioners across the country, particularly elderly and physically challenged citizens.

Addressing the launching ceremony of the digital Proof of Life Certificate facility, the prime minister said the new system would benefit both civilian and military pensioners, including senior citizens, women and persons with disabilities.

He termed the initiative a matter of great satisfaction, saying it represented an important public service and a significant step towards making the lives of pensioners easier.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasised that facilitating elderly citizens and persons with disabilities was not merely an administrative measure but a service to humanity.

He appreciated the federal ministers, government officials and institutions involved in developing and implementing the initiative and congratulated them on introducing the modern system.

The prime minister particularly acknowledged the contributions of Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, PM’s Adviser Dr Syed Tauqir Hussain Shah and Chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) in the development of the system.

He said the use of modern technology would enable pensioners to complete their Proof of Life verification from their homes through facial recognition and a digital application, eliminating the need for repeated visits to banks.

The initiative would significantly ease the difficulties faced by elderly, frail and disabled pensioners, who previously had to visit banks every six months to complete the verification process, he added.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also appreciated NADRA for providing the service without charging any fee to pensioners, saying that millions of beneficiaries would benefit from the facility.

He expressed gratitude to all individuals and institutions involved in launching the digital system and prayed that their efforts would be rewarded, noting that the beneficiaries would continue to remember them in their prayers.
