Russia, Pakistan Discuss Election Observation Ahead of September Parliamentary Polls

Moscow, August 24, 2026 – The Europe Today: Chairperson of Russia’s Central Election Commission Ella Pamfilova held a bilateral meeting with Pakistan’s Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja to discuss cooperation between the two countries’ electoral authorities.

During the meeting, the officials discussed arrangements for a Pakistani delegation to observe Russia’s parliamentary elections, scheduled to take place from September 18 to 20.

The talks formed part of a series of bilateral meetings held by Pamfilova with heads of electoral authorities from Pakistan, Kazakhstan and Türkiye.

The discussions highlighted continued engagement between Russia and partner countries on electoral matters, including the participation of international observers in the upcoming Russian parliamentary elections.

The Pakistani delegation’s observation mission is expected to provide an opportunity to familiarize its members with the organization and conduct of the Russian elections, as well as the procedures followed by the country’s electoral authorities.

The meeting underscored the importance of institutional contacts and exchange of experience between electoral bodies in strengthening cooperation in the field of election administration.
