Baku, September 15, 2026 – The Europe Today: A plenary session of an International Scientific-Practical Conference dedicated to prominent Azerbaijani thinker and scholar Sheikh Seyid Yahya Bakuvi Shirvani commenced at Gulustan Palace in Baku on September 14 as part of the 7th Meeting of the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Boards of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
Organised by the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMB), the conference brought together nearly 200 religious and public figures, scholars and representatives from around 40 countries and 18 international organisations.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade highlighted the enduring significance of Seyid Yahya Bakuvi’s intellectual and spiritual legacy.
He noted that the philosophy of Seyid Yahya Bakuvi, who made significant efforts to promote the teachings of Islam, was primarily founded on the principles of spiritual perfection, human brotherhood, tolerance and solidarity.
The conference was also addressed by Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders Mohamed Abdelsalam, President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Isa Habibbayli, and Chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations Ramin Mammadov, among other speakers.
During the conference, a book-album titled “The Summit of Brotherhood and Alliance” was also presented.
Authored by CMB Chairman Allahshukur Pashazade, the publication was issued in Azerbaijani and Uzbek and highlights the efforts of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to preserve and promote spiritual heritage and Islamic values in the contemporary history of the two brotherly peoples and friendly and allied states.
The conference will continue on September 15 with a series of panel discussions focusing on the scholarly, spiritual and cultural legacy of Sheikh Seyid Yahya Bakuvi and the broader values of Islamic solidarity and human fraternity.
