Moscow, September 20, 2026 – The Europe Today: Russia has warned that further US sanctions could undermine efforts to achieve a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, according to a report by RT.
The report said Moscow views additional sanctions pressure as counterproductive to diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the conflict. Russian officials have repeatedly argued that sanctions imposed on Russia hinder prospects for dialogue and contribute to continued confrontation.
The issue comes amid ongoing international discussions over possible approaches to ending the fighting and establishing conditions for negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
Russia has maintained that a sustainable settlement requires addressing what it describes as the underlying security concerns of the conflict, while Western governments have continued to use economic and diplomatic pressure as part of their response to Russia’s actions in Ukraine.
The reported Russian position reflects Moscow’s broader opposition to additional sanctions and its call for diplomatic engagement to play a central role in efforts to resolve the conflict.
