Pakistan Summons Indian Chargé d’Affaires over Killing of Two Pakistani Civilians

Pakistan

Islamabad, October 3, 2026 – The Europe Today: Pakistan on Saturday summoned the Indian Chargé d’Affaires to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and lodged a strong protest over the killing of two Pakistani civilians by personnel of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in the Bedian Sector along the International Border on October 2.

According to a Foreign Office press release, the BSF personnel used what Pakistan described as unprovoked lethal force against unarmed civilians. The Foreign Office said the use of force was unjustified and disproportionate and resulted in the loss of two lives. Pakistan also rejected any attempt to characterize the deceased as “infiltrators.”

Pakistan underscored that the incident constituted, in its assessment, a serious violation of fundamental human rights, including the right to life, and raised concerns regarding the protection of civilian life under international law.

The Indian side was called upon to conduct an immediate, transparent and credible investigation into the incident, take appropriate disciplinary and legal action against those found responsible, and formally communicate the findings and action taken to the Government of Pakistan.

Pakistan further urged India to ensure respect for fundamental human rights and international law, strictly observe relevant bilateral arrangements and established border procedures, exercise maximum restraint in dealing with such situations, and take effective measures to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents.

The Foreign Office statement was issued in Islamabad on October 3, 2026.
