Ex Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan Sentenced to 14 Years in Toshakhana Case

Islamabad, January 31, 2024, The Europe Today: An accountability court has handed down a 14-year prison sentence to former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the Toshakhana case. The verdict follows Imran Khan’s recent 10-year sentence in the cypher case under the Official Secrets Act. Bushra Bibi surrendered to the court after the announcement of the verdict, and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team took her into custody.

Accountability court judge Mohammad Bashir presided over the hearing at Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail, where Imran Khan is currently incarcerated. The couple has been prohibited from holding any public office for the next 10 years and fined approximately Rs1,574 million. The judge closed the right of cross-examination of the prosecution witnesses and instructed both Imran and Bushra to record their statements under Section 342 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, commented on the verdict, stating that Imran could have entered into an agreement to ease his legal troubles but has chosen to stand firm in his resolve to save the nation.
