Uzbek Scientists Visit Italy to Study Advanced Agricultural Practices

Rome, June 03, 2024, The Europe Today: A delegation of scientists from Uzbekistan’s scientific research institutes has embarked on a visit to Italy to study advanced foreign experience in the effective implementation of management strategies and innovative developments in agriculture, according to Uzbek media reports.

This practical trip has been organized by the Uzbek embassy in Italy, with the support of the United Nations Development Program in Uzbekistan and the European Union.

During the visit, Uzbek researchers will hold meetings with their foreign counterparts at the scientific centers of the Council for Agricultural Research and Economic Analysis (CREA) under the Italian Ministry of Agriculture. They will observe ongoing scientific research processes in experimental fields.

The focus areas of the study include organic farming, viticulture, plant protection, animal husbandry and aquaculture, production of milk and dairy products, microbiology, and mechanization. Uzbek experts aim to gain insights into Italian practices in these areas.

Over the course of a week, researchers from both countries will discuss various agricultural challenges and solutions, such as soil erosion prevention, water scarcity management, insect control, biodiversity enhancement, value chain formation, waste reduction, and food security.

Founded in 1928, the Italian Council for Agricultural Research and Economic Analysis includes 12 scientific centers covering diverse agricultural sectors. The institution also operates 66 experimental farms spanning a total area of 5,000 hectares, where more than 600 research scientists conduct studies.

The collaboration is expected to enhance the agricultural practices in Uzbekistan by incorporating advanced techniques and knowledge gained from Italy.
