Beijing, July 27, 2024, The Europe Today: The Chinese comedy “Successor” continued its reign at the top of the daily box office chart on the Chinese mainland, earning 82.64 million yuan (approximately 11.6 million USD) on Friday, as reported by the China Movie Data Information Network.
Starring comedy icons Shen Teng and Ma Li, and directed by Yan Fei and Peng Damo, “Successor” follows the story of a wealthy couple who concoct a challenging environment for their son to foster his personal growth.
Trailing behind “Successor” was the American action film “Deadpool & Wolverine,” which grossed 54.81 million yuan on its debut day.
Another notable release, the domestic film “The Traveller,” secured third place with box office sales amounting to 38.63 million yuan on its opening day.
Friday’s total box office revenue across the Chinese mainland reached approximately 215 million yuan, underscoring the strong performance of both domestic and international films in the region.
