Riyadh, November 11, 2024 — The Europe Today: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 11, to attend the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit. In a Facebook post, Anwar confirmed his safe arrival at King Khalid International Airport, traveling from Cairo, Egypt, and emphasized the critical need to address the escalating violence and brutal attacks by Israel against Palestine and Lebanon.
“Alhamdulillah, I have arrived in Riyadh at the invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for the Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit,” Anwar wrote. “We gather here to urgently address the escalating violence and brutal attacks by the Zionist regime on our Palestinian and Lebanese brothers and sisters. I extend Malaysia’s deepest appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its leadership in convening this crucial summit.”
He called for unity in opposing oppression and expressed hope that the summit’s collective efforts would lead to justice and peace for the oppressed. “Let us unite in our resolve to stand against oppression and pray that our collective efforts bring justice and peace to the oppressed, Insya-Allah,” Anwar added.
Upon his arrival, Anwar was warmly welcomed by the Deputy Governor of Riyadh Region, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, and the Mayor of Riyadh Region, Prince Dr Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf. He also received a guard of honour.
After the summit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to return to Cairo to continue a series of pre-arranged meetings with Malaysian and Egyptian delegations.
