Islamabad, November 21, 2024 — The Europe Today: Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan held a meeting with Professor Dr. Ismail Demir, Chairman of the Board of Kardemir (Karabuk Iron and Steel Works of Türkiye), on Wednesday during the IDEAS 2024 exhibition and conference. The discussions centered on enhancing bilateral trade relations and fostering closer business-to-business collaborations.
According to a press release, the two officials explored avenues for increased trade, investment, and cooperation in the steel and manufacturing sectors, underscoring mutual interests and shared goals.
Minister Khan highlighted the longstanding historical, political, and cultural ties between Pakistan and Türkiye, commending Ankara’s remarkable achievements in the defence, aerospace, and manufacturing industries. He noted Türkiye’s pivotal role in contributing to Pakistan’s industrial and defence sectors, emphasizing the mutual benefits of this enduring partnership.
“Our partnership with Türkiye has fostered self-reliance in key industries, and there is immense potential to further expand trade and investment,” Khan stated, reinforcing the importance of the relationship between the two nations.
The meeting also addressed the critical importance of adopting sustainable practices in steel production and leveraging innovation to meet global environmental standards.
Professor Demir reiterated Türkiye’s commitment to strengthening economic relations with Pakistan and emphasized the potential for deeper collaboration in technology and infrastructure. Both sides shared a vision to enhance trade opportunities and establish sustainable linkages between their steel industries.
