Belarusian President Arrives in Kazakhstan for CSTO Summit

Astana, November 27, 2024 – The Europe Today: Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has arrived in Astana, Kazakhstan, for a working visit, according to media reports. The Belarusian leader will participate in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Collective Security Council meeting, scheduled to take place on 28 November.

The summit will bring together leaders of CSTO member states to exchange views on international and regional developments and their implications for the security of member nations. Key discussions will focus on enhancing cooperation and advancing the collective security system within the organization.

A number of documents are expected to be signed following the summit, including a statement commemorating the upcoming 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, underscoring the member states’ shared historical legacy.

In conjunction with the summit, Astana will also host a joint meeting of the CSTO Foreign Ministers Council, the Defense Ministers Council, and the Committee of Secretaries of the Security Councils. These sessions aim to strengthen coordination and address pressing security issues affecting the region.

President Lukashenko’s visit and the high-level gatherings reflect the ongoing commitment of CSTO members to collective security and regional stability.
