Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim Advances UAE Relations with High-Level Meetings

Abu Dhabi, January 13, 2025 – The Europe Today: Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim began the second day of his three-day working visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday by engaging in strategic discussions with leaders of three prominent UAE sovereign wealth funds.

The one-on-one business meetings included dialogues with Masdar CEO Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) Managing Director Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Mubadala Managing Director and CEO Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak.

Following these high-level talks, Prime Minister Anwar is scheduled to travel to Dubai, approximately 150 km from Abu Dhabi, for an audience with UAE Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is also the Ruler of Dubai. The meeting will be held at Za’abeel Palace.

The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening bilateral ties and exploring collaborative opportunities in critical sectors, including renewable energy, food and energy security, artificial intelligence, and data center development. Regional and global issues of shared interest are also on the agenda.

Prime Minister Anwar’s visit is at the invitation of Sheikh Mohammed to participate in the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, an influential platform for advancing global sustainability efforts.

Anwar arrived in the UAE on Sunday, reaffirming Malaysia’s commitment to deepening economic and diplomatic ties with one of its key Middle Eastern partners.
