Malaysia to Aid Gaza Rebuilding Through East Asia Cooperation: Anwar Ibrahim

Petaling Jaya, January 29, 2025 – The Europe Today: Malaysia has pledged to contribute to the reconstruction of war-torn Gaza by developing several public amenities under East Asia cooperation, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced.

In a video address on Wednesday (Jan 29), Anwar stated that the Malaysian government, in collaboration with the Foreign Minister, has secured assurances to expedite the rebuilding efforts in Gaza and Palestine.

“Thanks to the effort between the Government and Foreign Minister, we have obtained assurance that the reconstruction of Gaza and Palestine will be expedited,” he said.

This initiative will be carried out through a joint effort between Japan and Malaysia, with plans to establish a dedicated fund via East Asian activities under the Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD).

Anwar expressed confidence that Malaysia’s involvement would be realized through the collective support of the rakyat and the private sector.

“We will start with the construction of a school, a hospital, and a mosque as part of our effort through the sacrifice of the community and rakyat,” he added.

Earlier on January 10, Anwar reiterated Malaysia’s full support for Japan’s initiative to organize CEAPAD in July to aid in the reconstruction of Gaza, emphasizing its significance for Malaysia and the Muslim world as a whole.
