Turkmenistan and Iran Hold 17th Intergovernmental Commission Meeting in Ashgabat

Ashgabat, February 28, 2025 – The Europe Today: The 17th meeting of the Turkmen-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission on Consular, Border, and Customs Issues was held on Thursday in Ashgabat, bringing together senior officials from both nations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported that the discussions aimed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in these key areas.

The Turkmen delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Gurbanov, while Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vahid Jalalzadeh headed the Iranian delegation. Representatives from relevant ministries and law enforcement agencies of both countries also participated in the event.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the implementation of agreements reached at the previous 16th session of the commission, which took place in Tehran in February 2024. They exchanged views on the current state of bilateral relations and underscored the importance of fully adhering to previously concluded agreements.

The discussions reflected a mutual commitment to enhancing cooperation in consular, border, and customs matters, reinforcing the longstanding diplomatic and economic ties between the two neighboring countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties signed the final protocol, reaffirming their dedication to deepening collaboration and ensuring the effective implementation of agreed measures.
