Jakarta, April 14, 2025 — The Europe Today: President Prabowo Subianto and King Abdullah II of Jordan witnessed the signing of three memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and one cooperation pact in Amman on Monday, marking a significant milestone in bilateral relations between Indonesia and Jordan.
The agreements, signed by key ministers from President Prabowo’s Red and White Cabinet, encompass cooperation in the fields of defense, research and education, religious affairs, and agriculture. The MoU signing ceremony took place at Al Husseiniya Palace as part of a high-level bilateral meeting led by the two leaders.
Indonesian Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, and Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar represented Indonesia in the signing.
In a statement posted on his official Instagram account @prabowo, President Prabowo emphasized the significance of the agreements, noting that they coincide with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Jordan.
“This cooperation is expected to strengthen the friendship of the two countries that has existed for 75 years and promote mutual progress in the future,” he wrote.
Aside from the bilateral meeting, President Prabowo and King Abdullah II also held a private tête-à-tête meeting to discuss regional developments and further cooperation between the two nations.
Jordan is the final stop on President Prabowo’s five-nation Middle East tour, which began on April 9. Prior to his visit to Jordan, he traveled to the United Arab Emirates, Türkiye, Egypt, and Qatar.
President Prabowo is scheduled to return to Jakarta following the conclusion of his official visit to Amman.
Speaking at a press conference before departing for the tour, President Prabowo stated that one of the key objectives of his regional visits was to consult with Middle Eastern leaders on the situation in Gaza and to enhance Indonesia’s role in supporting the Palestinian people.
