Uzbek and Turkmen Leaders Visit “Mirages of Time” Exhibition in Samarkand

Samarkand, April 25, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, together with the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, visited the immersive exhibition titled “Mirages of Time” at the International Tourist Center in Samarkand.

The exhibition, a major cultural showcase, offered the distinguished guests a unique and visually captivating experience centered around the rich heritage of the Great Silk Road. The central feature of the exhibition was a striking nighttime desert tableau, where a star-studded sky came alive with zodiac constellations, the astronomical chart of Ulugbek, and meridian lines. Visitors followed a path through the dunes, evoking the sense of joining a historical caravan making its way across the ancient trade routes.

As guests progressed through the exhibit, a narrative of human civilization unfolded hour by hour, portraying milestones in science, culture, and philosophy, and illustrating the enduring legacy of the region in shaping global history.

The visit was further enriched by live performances from Uzbek and Turkmen artists who played traditional string instruments such as the dutar and tanbur. Poetic recitations from legendary literary figures — Alisher Navoi of Uzbekistan and Magtymguly of Turkmenistan — added profound cultural depth to the event.

The exhibition stood out for its innovative use of special effects, lighting, and theatrical staging, all of which heightened the sense of immersion and captivated the attention of visitors.

The participation of the Uzbek and Turkmen leaders underscored the shared commitment of both nations to preserving and celebrating their historical and cultural heritage, as well as fostering deeper people-to-people ties through art and tourism.
