Azerbaijan, Portugal Discuss Expanding Bilateral Ties and Diplomatic Presence

Antalya, April 19, 2026 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his Portuguese counterpart Paulo Rangel on Saturday held talks on advancing bilateral relations and enhancing political dialogue.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2026 in Türkiye, according to a statement shared by Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry on its official X account.

During the discussions, both sides reviewed prospects for strengthening cooperation across key sectors, including economic, trade, and energy. They also exchanged views on deepening coordination within international organisations.

The ministers explored avenues to further expand bilateral engagement, including the potential opening of a Portuguese embassy in Azerbaijan, a move expected to bolster diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The talks underscored the mutual interest of both nations in broadening cooperation and reinforcing their partnership through sustained dialogue and institutional engagement.
