Baku, April 21, 2026 – The Europe Today: Ali Asadov chaired a meeting of Azerbaijan’s Economic Council on April 20, focusing on advancing the sustainable development of the country’s agrarian sector and strengthening food security.
The session featured comprehensive discussions on the current state and future prospects of agriculture, including measures to increase production, enhance productivity, expand agricultural trade and exports, and safeguard employment in regional areas.
Majnun Mammadov, Minister of Agriculture, presented detailed reports on the agenda items, outlining key challenges and opportunities within the sector. Members of the Economic Council, along with invited participants, engaged in extensive deliberations on the proposals and strategic priorities.
The meeting underscored the importance of coordinated policy measures to boost efficiency in agricultural production and ensure long-term sustainability, while also reinforcing the role of the sector in supporting economic growth and regional development.
At the conclusion of the session, participants adopted a set of decisions aimed at further developing the agricultural sector, with specific instructions issued to relevant government bodies for implementation.
