Ashgabat, April 24, 2026 – The Europe Today: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova held a meeting on April 23, 2026, with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Turkmenistan Narine Sahakyan to review ongoing cooperation and explore future collaboration priorities.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the current state and перспективы of partnership between Turkmenistan and UNDP, underscoring the growing scope of joint initiatives and the positive trajectory of bilateral engagement.
The officials emphasized the significance of cooperation under the UNDP Country Programme for 2026–2030, which focuses on key areas such as public administration reform, digital transformation, economic development, climate action, and social welfare. They highlighted the steady expansion of project-based collaboration, noting an increasing number of jointly implemented initiatives.
Particular attention was given to Turkmenistan’s preparations for its Third Voluntary National Review (VNR) on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which is scheduled to be presented in 2027 at the Economic and Social Council High-Level Political Forum.
The meeting also underscored the importance of the Open Dialogue format as an effective platform for discussing pressing sustainable development issues, including SDG financing and the adoption of modern development tools.
In addition, the sides reviewed the progress of ongoing joint projects, discussed resource mobilization strategies, and explored avenues for strengthening inter-agency cooperation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a constructive and forward-looking dialogue across all areas of cooperation.
