Baku, June 12, 2026 – The Europe Today: Prime Minister Ali Asadov chaired a meeting of Azerbaijan’s Economic Council on June 11, focusing on key economic priorities, infrastructure development, and sectoral growth strategies.
The meeting held in Baku included detailed discussions on the organization and development of the Alat Free Economic Zone, its strategic outlook, and future prospects. Participants also reviewed the role and potential of the services sector as a driver of national economic growth, alongside other priority areas and current policy proposals.
Reports on the agenda items were presented by Shahmar Movsumov, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Department of Economic Issues and Innovative Development Policy of the Presidential Administration, and Mikayil Jabbarov.
Members of the Economic Council, along with Valeh Alasgarov, engaged in extensive discussions on the issues under consideration, including infrastructure planning and investment opportunities within the zone.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants adopted a series of decisions related to the development of the tourism sector. Relevant instructions were issued to the responsible government bodies to ensure effective implementation of the agreed measures.
The meeting underscored Azerbaijan’s continued focus on diversifying its economy, strengthening strategic economic zones, and enhancing the role of key sectors in sustainable national development.
