Dar Attends Inaugural Meeting of Strategic Political and Defence Committee in Istanbul

Istanbul, August 31, 2026 – The Europe Today: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday attended the inaugural meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee, established under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, in Istanbul, Türkiye.

Dar participated in the meeting alongside Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

The meeting was also attended by their Turkish and Saudi counterparts, according to a press release issued by the Foreign Office.

The establishment of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee reflects the commitment of Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia to strengthening strategic political, defence and security cooperation under the framework of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.

The inaugural meeting provided an important platform for the three countries to further institutionalize their cooperation and enhance coordination on matters of mutual strategic interest.
