PM Shehbaz Sharif Attends Opening Ceremony of 6th World Nomad Games in Bishkek

Bishkek, September 1, 2026 – The Europe Today: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday attended the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games held here in the Kyrgyz capital.

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Japarov welcomed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif upon his arrival at the venue of the ceremony.

The heads of state participating in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of State meeting also attended the opening ceremony.

A contingent of Pakistani athletes is participating in the World Nomad Games in various traditional sports.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif applauded and paid tribute to the Pakistani contingent as it entered the stadium. The spectators also warmly welcomed the Pakistani athletes upon their arrival.

The World Nomad Games are an international sporting event featuring traditional sports deeply rooted in the cultures of Central Asian and other participating nations. The competitions include wrestling, horse racing, archery, traditional hunting and various mental and intellectual games.

The 6th World Nomad Games are being held in Kyrgyzstan from August 31 to September 6, 2026.

The games aim to promote cultural ties, mutual understanding and cooperation among peoples of different countries while preserving and showcasing traditional sports and cultural heritage.
