Moscow, September 22, 2026 — The Europe Today: Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on his birthday during a telephone conversation, conveying his wishes for good health, well-being and continued success in his state service, Turkmenistan’s official media reported.
During the conversation, President Putin highlighted the significant contribution of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, to strengthening relations between Turkmenistan and Russia. He also conveyed his warm greetings to the Turkmen leader.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked President Putin for his warm congratulations and said he regarded the wishes as a manifestation of sincere respect and friendship.
The Turkmen President also congratulated Putin on the successful elections to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. He noted the high level of organization of the voting process and wished the newly elected Russian parliament success in serving the interests of the country and its citizens.
Berd Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that inter-parliamentary cooperation between Turkmenistan and Russia would continue to develop and strengthen.
The two leaders also discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral relations. According to the report, Turkmenistan attaches considerable importance to the development of friendly and mutually beneficial relations with Russia, based on the principles of mutual trust, respect and shared interests.
The telephone conversation underscored the continued emphasis by both sides on strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation across various areas of mutual interest.
