Rawalpindi, September 28, 2026 — The Europe Today: Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Monday met a delegation of the United States Afghanistan War Commission at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
The delegation was led by Shamila N. Chaudhary and Dr. Colin F. Jackson, who are reviewing the United States’ 20-year engagement and role in Afghanistan.
According to ISPR, the meeting covered matters of mutual interest, including Pakistan’s support during the US-led war in Afghanistan.
The discussions also focused on the regional security situation and developments in Afghanistan. Matters related to the work of the US Afghanistan War Commission were also discussed.
Field Marshal Asim Munir presented Pakistan’s perspective on the security environment that shaped the conflict and highlighted the challenges faced by Pakistan during the prolonged war in Afghanistan.
He also reviewed the strategic, diplomatic and operational dimensions of the conflict and underscored the importance of incorporating the regional context and Pakistan’s experiences into the commission’s assessment.
The US delegation acknowledged Pakistan’s longstanding role and sacrifices during the conflict in Afghanistan and appreciated the country’s continued contributions towards regional peace and stability.
