Ichinomiya, September 30, 2026 – The Europe Today: Indonesian badminton duo Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin won the men’s doubles gold medal at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, securing Indonesia’s third gold medal of the Games.
Leo and Daniel defeated China’s Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang 19-21, 21-13, 21-18 in the men’s doubles final held at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium in Aichi Prefecture.
The Indonesian pair recovered strongly after losing the opening game and maintained their composure and communication to win the next two games and claim the title.
Daniel said the pair encouraged each other throughout the match and decided to make the most of the opportunity. Leo also expressed appreciation to their coaches, support staff and supporters, saying that their game plan and communication remained intact despite the closely contested encounter.
The victory was particularly significant for Leo and Daniel, who had suffered several recent defeats against the Chinese pair in BWF competitions. Their Asian Games triumph ended that losing streak and provided Indonesia with another badminton gold medal.
The men’s doubles title followed Indonesia’s earlier gold medal in the badminton men’s team event and Rahmat Erwin Abdullah’s gold in weightlifting.
According to ANTARA, Indonesia had won 30 medals at the Games at that stage, comprising three golds, seven silvers and 20 bronzes.
