Rawalpindi, October 2, 2026 – The Europe Today: The 277th Corps Commanders’ Conference reviewed Pakistan’s prevailing security environment and underscored the importance of maintaining internal stability, with the forum resolving that any attempt to create agitation or a May 9-like situation “on any pretext whatsoever” would be dealt with through decisive force and the rule of law, without hesitation or discrimination.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir presided over the conference at General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi.
The forum reviewed the prevailing security environment and resolved to maintain a high state of operational readiness, ISPR said.
The participants also affirmed Pakistan’s right to self-defence and targeted action against terrorism emanating from Afghanistan. The statement attributed responsibility for the consequences of such terrorism to what it described as the Taliban leadership’s facilitation of terrorism on behalf of India.
The forum appreciated the sustained and successful intelligence-based counter-terrorism operations conducted by law-enforcement agencies. It emphasized, however, that kinetic efforts should be complemented by non-kinetic measures, including people-centric governance at the grassroots level, strategic engagement with the public, dismantling the terror-crime nexus operating under the patronage of vested interests, and strengthening police capacity.
These measures, the forum noted, should remain aligned with the National Action Plan and Vision Azm-e-Istehkam.
The forum also welcomed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, noting its contribution to longstanding strategic relations and collective defence ties between the three countries.
The participants strongly condemned Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, expressed solidarity with the Kingdom and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the security and sanctity of the Haramain Sharifain, according to ISPR.
The forum further reiterated Pakistan’s stated position on Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and reaffirmed support for resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
The conference also offered Fateha for the Shuhada of the Armed Forces, law-enforcement agencies and civil society who lost their lives in service of the country, while paying tribute to their sacrifices, ISPR said.
In his concluding remarks, Field Marshal Asim Munir commended the formations for their operational preparedness and professionalism. He directed commanders to continue strengthening intelligence-based operations and enhancing combat capabilities through the adoption of modern technology, improved training and multi-domain integration.
The CDF expressed confidence that the Armed Forces, with the continued support of the nation, remained fully prepared to safeguard Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security, the statement concluded.
